此次任务将对助推器新型着陆燃烧方案、飞船返航轨迹、飞船隔热系统耐受性等关键技术进行实验和验证。
火箭助推器在完成任务后坠入得州发射基地以东的墨西哥湾海域，达成预定测试目标。
